Bow Wow’s 14-year-old daughter, Shai Moss, has sparked controversy with her recent outfit at the 2025 BET Awards.

Accompanying her father, Shad “Bow Wow” Moss, to the event, Shai wore a black ensemble featuring a thigh-high cut-out near her left hip.

While Bow Wow praised her appearance, calling her “beautiful,” many social media users expressed concern, deeming the outfit “too grown” for her age.

Some questioned if Bow Wow had seen the full outfit, while others speculated about her mother’s reaction.

Bow Wow shares Shai with his ex-girlfriend, dancer Joie Chavis. In response to the criticism, Joie addressed the matter during a TikTok live video.

She said, “At no point did we know that there was a cut out, but whoever was selling, they should have said, ‘Hey, there was a cut out,’ and that’s all I’m going to say about that. And when she put it on, I think they were like, ‘Oh man, we didn’t realize. Do we have a backup? No, we don’t have a backup. She has to go out.’ She felt weird and uncomfortable. Mama was not around. Mama was not in attendance.”

Shai, who joined the livestream while spending the summer with her dad, also weighed in:

“We all know it wasn’t appropriate. I think you could tell I was a little bit uncomfortable, but that’s okay. Everything happens for a reason. I think that people just misunderstand me because I think I am a little mature, but it’s okay, guys. Things happen. People are going to hate.”

Shai, who turned 14 on April 27, celebrated her birthday in a big way during the final night of the Millennium Tour at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
