Isis Sio, a young boxing talent, is facing a critical health battle following a severe injury in the ring.
The 19-year-old athlete has been placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a knockout in the initial round of a ProBox TV card match on March 21, the organization disclosed. The incident occurred during a bout against Jocelyn Camarillo, where Sio was subjected to multiple head blows, according to ESPN.
ProBox TV, in a statement released on March 22, expressed their heartfelt concern: “On behalf of CEO Garry Jonas and the entire ProBox family, we are sending prayers for Isis Sio’s swift recovery. Our thoughts are firmly with her and her loved ones during this challenging period. We urge everyone to join us in wishing for her full recovery.”
Sio, who turned professional last September, has a record of one win and three losses. Her promising career is now on hold as she battles for her health following this unfortunate incident in the ring.
Isis—whose turned professional in September and so far has gone 1-3 in the ring—was competing against Jocelyn Camarillo in the match when she was knocked out, per ESPN, after receiving a series of head shots.Â
The outlet reports she received immediate medical attention and could be seen convulsing as she was taken out of the arena on a stretcher. The teenager is receiving medical treatment at the Loma Linda University Health medical center.
