Brandon Frankel is currently on the road to recovery.
The spouse of Oscar-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe recently revealed that he is recuperating from surgery after being diagnosed with stage 1 papillary thyroid cancer.
“I discovered it early because I insisted on an ultrasound that my doctor initially deemed unnecessary,” Brandon shared on Instagram on February 20, posting photos with Gabourey at the hospital. “I refused to ‘wait and see.’ I was not going to come back in 6–9 months.”
He further noted, “I made the calls. I used my connections. I pursued cancellations. I made a LOT of noise. It paid off.”
Brandon, who exchanged vows with the American Horror Story star in 2021, confirmed that the procedure to remove the cancer was successful, stating he is “OK for now.” Nonetheless, he emphasized his commitment to maintaining a vigilant approach to his health.
“Pathology showed a more aggressive cell type (tall cell), so there’s more monitoring ahead,” he continued. “But we caught it early. I’m extremely proactive so I can be around for my family.”
Brandon also emphasized how “grateful” and “lucky” he is that Gabourey was there to support him and their 22-month-old twins Cooper and Maya through his health journey.
