Irish schoolboy Cillian O’Connor sailed through to the final of Britain’s Got Talent on Friday night after stunning viewers and winning the semi-finals’ last public vote.

The young magician, 13, took to the stage for the last live semi-final and used Simon Cowell, 63, as part of his memorable act.

During his performance, Cillian made a unique hanky, that was marked by Simon, jump from the judges’ table to the inside of an apple before making himself disappear from the stage.

After the performance, the judges and viewers at home were left absolutely stunned by the act, and judge Bruno Tonioli, 67, claimed it was simply ‘spellbinding’.

Amanda Holden, 52, also said she was ‘lost for words’ while Simon added ‘There’s just something about you’.

Simon then proceeded to tell the schoolboy that he still believes in magic and pointed to the audience that was all on their feet before saying ‘So do they’.

Viewers at home were also equally impressed with Cillian’s act and took to social media to share their thoughts.

One viewer said: ‘I’m in awe and sobbing, why am I sobbing at a magic act! Cillian you are fabulous that’s the best magic act I’ve seen! Just incredible.’

While another added: ‘Cillian was truly amazing. That’s how magic is done. What a boy.’

However, after the show, there were just two places left up for grabs and viewers believed Cillian had a very high chance of getting through.

Once all performances of the night were wrapped up, Ant and Dec then took to the stage to announce who was going to be sailing through to Sunday’s grand final.

And of course, Cillian surpassed all expectations as Ant and Dec revealed he was the winner of the semi-final, leaving Cillian in a state of shock and overwhelmed with the result.

Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec afterwards, Cillian said ‘I’m feeling brilliant and thanking my family over there and the entire audience.’

Thursday’s semi-final was a tense showdown, with judge Alesha Dixon, 44, saying ahead of the vote: ‘I’m really worried someone great is going to go home. It’s going to be a difficult one tonight.’

Amanda also added: ‘There was so many acts that deserved to go straight through.’

However, Cillian sailed through on the public vote and was ecstatic about the announcement.

It comes before Funny man Tonikaku and Liverpool dancer Lilliana Clifton were the next two highest-scoring acts, however, the judges could only choose one for a place in the final.

And in the end, they voted for Lilliana Clifton to join Cillian for Sunday’s grand final.

The acts sent home during the last semi-final of this year’s series were dance troupe The Pixiebelles, dancing duo Romeo and Icy, comedienne nurse Georgie Carroll, singer Cammy Barnes and dance group Unity

And those due to compete in the final on Sunday are choirboy Malakai Bayoh, danger-fuelled aerial acrobatic performers, Duo Odyssey, amputee dancer Musa Motha and singer Amy Lou.

They will be joined by clown and comedian Viggo Venn, singer Olivia Lynes, dance troupe Ghetto Kids and singer Travis George.

However, things will change before Sunday, as it was revealed the judges would decide on a wildcard choice to be brought back to the show for the final, with the act being revealed during the upcoming programme.

The winner of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent will be announced at the end of Sunday’s show, with the champion winning £250,000 and the opportunity to perform during the Royal Variety Performance later this year.

The Britain’s Got Talent final airs on Sunday at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
