Brody Jenner is opening up about his strained relationship with his father Caitlyn Jenner in the latest episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

Brody, who is one of eight remaining recruits on the course, has his time in the mirror room with DS Rudy Reyes and DS Billy Billingham in tonight’s episode, where he promises to be “the exact opposite” of Caitlyn when it comes to “being there” for his daughter.

“I had an incredible mother. [My] father, Bruce at the time, wasn’t around that much,” Brody explains to the directing staff. “They split and then he met a woman. She had kids as well when they met and then they had kids together.”

The Hills alum, of course, is referring to Caitlyn’s 22-year marriage with Kris Jenner, who already had kids Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Rob Kardashian from her previous marriage. Caitlyn and Kris went on to have Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner together.

Brody, who is Caitlyn’s fourth child, admits to feeling “a little bit abandoned” when she married Kris.

While Brody cuts his dad some slack given everything he was going through internally at the time, he does criticize the way Caitlyn’s transition to a woman was documented on TV.

“I will say he was going through his own struggles transitioning,” Brody continues. “All that was put on TV and there were these very intimate moments we would have and it was all filmed and it just felt very invasive and not very genuine, I would say.”

Caitlyn first came out as transgender in a 2015 interview with Diane Sawyer. She later sat down with the Kar-Jenner clan to discuss her transition in a two-part episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 10 — and she also filmed two seasons of I Am Cait, which documented her life post-gender transition.

According to Brody, Caitlyn recently apologized for being absent as he was growing up.

“Just recently, I got a real, sincere apology,” Brody says. “It was the first time in my life that I had gotten an apology. ‘I’m sorry for not being there.’ And honestly, it meant a lot.”

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
