Bryce James, the youngest son of NBA player LeBron James, has signed his letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Arizona. The 17-year-old made the decision official on Thursday, following through on his commitment from January.

In a brief video shared by the university on social media, Bryce expressed his readiness to join the team: “What’s going on Wildcat Nation, can’t wait to get there and start working. Bear Down.”

The announcement prompted reactions online, including a comment that noted both Bryce and his brother Bronny chose to wear their father’s jersey number in college.

“U gotta get a great father award [Lebron]…. know it doesn’t matter to yall and most don’t care, but both of his sons decided to wear their Daddy number in college (#6)…Most athletes do everything they can to separate themselves from the father’s legacy or sibling legacy… their father is their idol and thats not the case for all father/sons!!!!”

Bryce becomes the second James sibling to play at the NCAA level, after his older brother, Bronny James, spent the 2023-24 season at USC before being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Currently ranked as the No. 257 overall prospect and No. 45 shooting guard in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports Composite, Bryce has gained recognition for his skills on the court. He is also ranked as the No. 30 player in California.

During an unofficial visit to Tucson, Bryce was impressed by the Wildcats’ program and head coach Tommy Lloyd’s  focus on player development.

“Sources tell WildcatAuthority.com that one of the main reasons why James was drawn to Arizona is Tommy Lloyd’s ability to develop players and his patience with that process,” 247Sports’ Jason Scheer reports.

Bryce will join a 2025 recruiting class that includes two five-star players, Koa Peat and Brayden Burries, along with four-star forward Dwayne Aristode.
