Deadline reported over the summer that Morrone was set to star in Gonzo Girl alongside Willem Dafoe and Patricia Arquette.
The film will be Arquette’s feature directorial debut.
Gonzo Girl is based on the acclaimed novel by author Cheryl Della Pietra with the same name.

Gonzo Girl follows an aspiring writer Alley Russo — played by Morrone — who starts working as an assistant to legendary ‘gonzo journalist’ Walker Reade — played by Dafoe.
According to the synopsis, Alley Russo soon learns that a lifetime of chronic substance abuse has subsequently affected the journalist’s writing ability.
The aspiring writer then takes on the task of transforming Walker’s illegible rants into publishable prose, an act of moral support and plagiarism that keeps Walker’s career alive for a little bit longer.
Production began in Utah in July. A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
Morrone will also act in upcoming Amazon miniseries Daisy Jones & The Six. The show is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling, same-name novel.
No official release date has been announced, but viewers can anticipate the show in late 2022 or early 2023.

Morrone’s filmography includes credits from A24’s Never Goin’ Back and indie drama Mickey and the Bear.

This film is anticipated for release in 2023 as well.
