And on Thursday, the 46-year-old singer took to Instagram to share a sweet childhood throwback snap. 

In the photo, the singer can be seen sporting blue satin pyjamas as she nonchalantly poses for the camera. 

The star looked almost unrecognisable with her short black locks while relaxing on an armchair in her living room. 

She captioned the post: ‘Someone tell this girl she might be about to have her sixth top 10 album (love heart emoji)’

The British pop sensation first made waves as the lead vocalist of indie band Theaudience before going solo in the early 2000s. 

Since then, she’s racked up eight UK Top 10 singles and five UK Top 10 albums, thanks to her signature blend of disco, pop and electronic sounds.

Sophie’s big breakthrough came in 2000 with the chart-topping Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), a collaboration with Italian DJ Spiller that became the UK’s best-selling vinyl single of the millennium (at the time) in 2015.

Her debut solo album, Read My Lips, dropped in 2001, peaking at number two on the UK Albums Chart. It went double platinum, selling over 1.5 million copies worldwide.

The record spawned a string of hits, including Take Me Home, Murder on the Dancefloor, and Get Over You – with Murder becoming one of her signature songs.

She followed it up with Shoot from the Hip (2003), which reached number 19 and featured Top 10 hits Mixed Up World and I Won’t Change You.

Her third album, Trip the Light Fantastic (2007), hit number seven, while Make a Scene (2011) delivered the Top 40 single Bittersweet.

In 2023, Sophie’s music found a whole new audience when Murder on the Dancefloor was famously featured in the iconic final scene of Emerald Fennell’s psychological drama Saltburn.

The unforgettable moment saw actor Barry Keoghan dancing in the buff to Sophie’s 2001 hit – and sent the song soaring back into the charts more than two decades after its original release.

It even entered Spotify’s Global Top 50 after clocking up more than 1.4 million streams in just one day.

Reacting to the surprise success, Sophie wrote on X (formerly Twitter): ‘Wow…thank you for all the Murder love. Happy new year! Xx’

Saltburn, which stars Barry alongside Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant, premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in August 2023 before hitting UK cinemas that November.

The film received widespread acclaim and picked up two Golden Globe nominations and five BAFTA nods.
