Candice Warner shares embarrassing reason she knocked herself out while attending her first Ashes

Candice and David Warner have been going strong for 10 years, with three beautiful daughters and a happy marriage to show for it. 

But the former Ironwoman, 38, has admitted she didn’t make the best first impression when the couple started dating in 2013, and she first watched the cricketer play in the Ashes. 

Speaking on Triple M’s Rush Hour with Gus, Jude & Wendell, Candice recounted an embarrassing story where she drank too much, hit her head and knocked herself out. 

‘It was a hot day and I’m a real lightweight. I had a couple too many Pimm’s, and I was sitting there with one of Dave’s friends,’ Candice began. 

‘I got up and I thought I was sweet, but I wasn’t. I walked out of the aisle and up towards the ladies bathrooms and I didn’t realise that the grandstand was hanging over.’

She continued: ‘I’ve headbutted the grandstand in front of the Barmy Army. Basically knocked myself out. Fell over. Got back up. Sort of dusted myself off, and just walked into the bathroom and burst into tears.’

Candice went on to say everyone saw what happened and ‘sort of cheered’ because ‘it was so embarrassing’. 

Despite the gaffe, David fell head over heels for Candice and married her in 2015, and the couple will mark eight years of marriage this coming April.

The pair first connected over Twitter while he was playing in England.

A decade later and the lovebirds share three wonderful daughters – Ivy Mae, eight, Indi Rae, seven and Isla Rose, three.  

David is a devoted father and husband, and often gushes about his family online when cricket takes him away from home. 

Candice supports her husband wholeheartedly in his endeavours, now retired from her own athletic career, and often looks after their children when David leaves.
