In a gripping return to the field, New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs took to the turf for the first time since facing serious allegations. His supportive partner, rapper Cardi B, made it clear she stands by his side amidst the turmoil.
During the Patriots’ commanding 38-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins on January 4, Diggs amassed 43 receiving yards. This performance propelled him past the 1,000-yard mark for the season, earning him a substantial $500,000 bonus. Cardi B, evidently proud, shared a post on her Instagram Story celebrating his achievement. The post originally from X highlighted, “Stefon Diggs is officially the first Patriots WR to crack 1,000 receiving yards since Julian Edelman in 2019.” Cardi added her own touch with the caption, “Covered ALWAYS…Amen!”
This milestone marks the seventh 1,000-yard season in Diggs’ career, underlining his consistent excellence on the field despite the off-field challenges he currently faces.
The Patriots’ triumph over the Dolphins also marked the team’s first outing since Diggs was charged on December 30 with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. The charges stem from an alleged altercation with his live-in private chef concerning her remuneration.
“Stefon Diggs categorically denies these allegations,” Diggs’ attorney David Meier said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. “They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated — because they did not occur. The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction. Stefon looks forward to establishing the truth in a court of law.”

The police report, obtained by Boston 25 News, details Diggs’ alleged actions, claiming that he “smacked” the unnamed woman in the face, then “tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck. She said that he was behind her with his arm wrapped around her. She said that she did feel like she had trouble breathing and that she felt like she could have blacked out.”
The report also seems to acknowledge Cardi, referring to Diggs’ “girlfriend,” who was not named. The woman claims she “received a voice mail and text messages from a female that she believed to be Diggs’ girlfriend.”
“The messages stated something to the effect of ‘you don’t need to do all this. It’s not that big of a deal,’” the report claimed.
Us Weekly has reached out to Cardi’s lawyer for comment.
Diggs and Cardi have been linked since late 2024 and welcomed their first baby, a son, in November 2025.
Diggs himself broke his silence on the accusations on Friday, January 2, telling reporters that it is “an emotional time” and apologizing for not meeting with the media on Wednesday, as he typically does during the season.
“Taken aback by some things that’s been going on,” he said. “But I want to be here to say sorry I wasn’t available for those couple days. It’s a different kind of time.”
He continued, “It’s definitely an open case, so I can’t even say anything about it. I will be open to any football questions, anything you want to know. I don’t want to be rude or disruptive in any way. If anybody asks me a question pertaining to [the allegations], I’m obviously just going to give you a look. Y’all kind of know me at this point.”
