Cardi B’s journey from social media sensation to a powerhouse in the music industry is nothing short of remarkable. Her vibrant personality and relentless work ethic have propelled her to the top of the charts, secured her numerous awards, and expanded her influence into fashion, television, and various business ventures. Recently, she shared her thoughts on why Beyoncé stands alone in her unparalleled success.
Cardi B says Beyoncé’s ‘insane work ethic’ made her one of the greatest successes in the entertainment world
During a conversation on Jay Shetty’s podcast, On Purpose, Cardi B opened up about her views on success, parenting, and moving past unsuccessful relationships. True to her candid nature, she reflected on her humble beginnings and the journey to becoming the artist and mother she is today. In this discussion, she emphasized that the triumphs of industry giants are far from accidental. She specifically highlighted Beyoncé as an unmatched force, describing her as one of the most dedicated individuals in the business.
“If you notice a pattern, they work really hard,” Cardi remarked, as shared on Firstnews Music’s Instagram. “Do you think Beyoncé has a yacht and a mansion simply because she’s Beyoncé? No, she works tirelessly. She’s one of the hardest working individuals ever. Why can’t others reach her level? It’s because she has an extraordinary work ethic.”
Beyoncé’s career achievements are indeed legendary. With a discography of eight studio albums, a record-setting 35 Grammy Awards — the most for any female artist — and over 200 million records sold globally, she sets an almost unreachable benchmark. Her concert tours have amassed over 0 million, with her reach expanding into fashion, cinema, and lucrative business ventures.
Beyoncé previously wrote a handwritten note to the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper
In a personal touch, Beyoncé reached out to Cardi B in September 2022 with a heartfelt handwritten note. Accompanying a special edition vinyl of her album, Renaissance, the note was written in elegant silver ink, serving as a testament to the mutual respect between these two icons.
“To: Cardi B, Hard working, beautiful and talented queen, thank you for always supporting me. Sending so much love to you and yours. Respect, Beyoncé.”
Cardi B shared her excitement on X, expressing plans to protect the cherished gift at all costs. She humorously added, “I’m gonna put it in a glass frame with laser beams on it. Anybody that gets motherf***ing next to it is gonna get electrocuted on motherf***ing site.”
Cardi B convinced record labels to sign her by creating her own success first
Cardi B has a very similar work ethic to Beyoncé. While speaking to Jay Shetty, she explained how she had to fight for record labels to take her seriously.
“I’m not a lazy person, and I do understand my flaws,” Cardi noted. “… Everything that I’m doing at the time, I’m always trying to perfect it. Even when I was a stripper, it’s like, ‘OK, I’m a stripper. But I’m going to be the best pole dancer in here. And I’m gonna f***in’ bust my a**, bust my knees, practice every day so I can be the best at it.’ And that’s the same with music. I’m going to perfect it. That’s the same with my marketing. … I like to perfect things.”
Cardi noted that at the beginning of her music career, labels tried to give her “scraps” for a record deal. And she also thought getting on TV would give her her “big break” as an artist, but it didn’t pan out that way. Despite the struggle, Cardi continued and funded her own concerts with 400-800 people in attendance. She then took the numbers to labels to convince them that she can draw a crowd — and it worked.
“Everything that I did is documented,” Cardi explained. “This s*** isn’t given to me.”
