In an echo of celebrity romance buzz, a new duo has taken the spotlight just months after a top NFL star and a global pop sensation revealed their plans to marry. The latest couple to capture attention are another pro-athlete-singer pairing, announcing their sweet engagement.
Before the joyous update from Justin Herbert and Madison Beer, it was none other than Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift who sent social media into a frenzy with their joint Instagram reveal on August 26, 2025. Their playful caption read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” leaving fans ecstatic.
Among the charming carousel of images shared by the Kansas City Chiefs athlete and the iconic singer-songwriter behind “Karma,” were glimpses of their picturesque garden proposal and close-ups of Swift’s breathtaking ring. UK jewelry expert Zach Stone of Steven Stone provided insights right after the internet exploded over the reveal.
Stone detailed that the ring boasts a stunning 12-carat cushion-cut diamond. Its elongated shape with gently rounded edges captures a blend of sparkling brilliance and quietly romantic elegance. The diamond is set in yellow gold, featuring a sleek, polished band that highlights its central gem. This piece hints at a vintage or antique-inspired style, and the combination of a bold diamond with the warm softness of yellow gold endows it with an enduring charm.
“Taylor has a penchant for vintage romance in her work, especially during her ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’ eras,” Stone noted. “Antique-style jewelry carries historical significance and sentiment. Much like Taylor intertwines nostalgia and stories into her music, this ring seems as though it too could tell its own tale.”
Herbert and Beer’s proposal post showcased a beautiful ring as well, which has some similarities to Swift’s rock.
Diamond expert and founder of his Mokume Gane jewelry company, Jaume Labro, took a closer look at the specifics of Beer’s ring. Like Swift’s, the design happens to be popular amongst celebrities now.
Speaking on behalf of Cafe Casino, he told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “At center stage [of Beer’s ring] is a spectacular rare elongated cushion cut diamond estimated to weigh (approximately) 10 carats and set as a pure solitaire. Suspended on a very slim band of either yellow gold or platinum, the diamond is held securely by discreet compass prongs that draw all eyes straight to its pattern of clear facets.
“Finding such large, elongated cushions with such exceptional color and clarity is very hard indeed so total value of the ring is estimated to range comfortably from $500,000 to well over $1 million dollars. Design expresses this shift away from busy halo settings or bands with multiple stones by letting a single heirloom vintage stone lead toward quiet luxury.”
Labro added, “Celebrities have overwhelmingly gravitated toward elongated cushion cuts because this diamond successfully fuses classic romance with modern geometry. Cushion cuts retain soft pillow corners and intense fire but also have slender finger lengthening proportions that are typical of ovals or emeralds.
“This unique combination maximizes the surface area of the diamond on the finger and makes it appear much larger than its carat weight while still looking very sophisticated.”
