For comedian Chelsea Handler, the prescription of Ozempic was far from a joke. Handler shared that her “anti-aging doctor” had prescribed the medication without her understanding of what it actually was.

During the January 25, 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy, she confessed, “I had no idea I was even taking it. The doctor mentioned, ‘If you ever want to shed five pounds, this is something you could try.'”

Despite giving it a shot, Handler quickly realized she was not a fan of the drug’s effects.

Reflecting on her experience, she said, “After returning from a vacation, I injected the Ozempic. A few days later, during lunch with a friend, she mentioned, ‘I’m not eating much because I’m on Ozempic and feeling nauseous.’ I thought, ‘That’s odd, I feel nauseous too,’ but I assumed it was just jet lag from my trip to Spain.”

Deciding it wasn’t necessary for her health, Handler eventually discontinued the use of the medication and distributed her remaining doses among friends.

“I’ve injected about four or five of my friends with Ozempic, because I realized I didn’t want to use it because it was silly,” she said. “It’s for heavy people. I have people coming over to my house, and I’m like, ‘OK, I can see you at 1, I can see you at 2.’”
