Channel Ten has announced that “The Amazing Race” will not be making a return to the screen in 2026. This news was confirmed to the Daily Mail on Thursday by a network spokesperson who attributed the decision to ‘several factors.’

“We’ve been working on another brilliant new season of ‘The Amazing Race Australia,’ but due to several factors including travel logistics, it will not be part of our 2026 program schedule,” the spokesperson explained.

Beau Ryan, the show’s host, shared his thoughts with the Daily Mail, emphasizing the complexity involved in the show’s production. “It’s a job that I’ve loved since the first day in the role, and it’s something that I get really excited about,” Ryan said. “But if it means we have to push it back to get the product right in terms of number of episodes, correct countries, correct casting, then, so be it.”

Host Beau Ryan told Daily Mail that given the amount of moving parts the show has, it was important to ‘get it right.’

‘It’s a job that I’ve loved since the first day in the role, and it’s something that I get really excited about, but if it means we have to push it back to get the product right in terms of number of eps, correct countries, correct casting, then, so be it,’ he said.

‘I love it at 10, and I love my role and, hopefully, it just means it goes bigger, better and longer.’

Insiders claim that casting was already underway for the 2026 season when news of the cancellation dropped.

The shock cancellation comes as quite a surprise, given The Amazing Race was promoted as one of Channel Ten’s flagship 2026 shows at the network’s annual Upfronts event in November.

‘This wasn’t some small side project. It was one of their major shows,’ the insider said.

‘To halt it halfway through casting is almost unheard of.’

However, given the sheer amount of planning it takes to ferry the cast and crew to various locations around the world, it’s perhaps not surprising that the show will be rested in 2026.

While the show is bowing out this year, fans can remain hopeful for a 2027 return.

It’s certainly not for a lack of interest in the series, with the 2025 season of The Amazing Race performing quite well in the ratings.

The season averaged 813,000 national viewers, which marked a 7 per cent increase on the previous year.

Meanwhile, the show’s grand finale proved to be the big winner for the network, attracting an impressive 1.1 million total national viewers.

Aussie actors Stephen and Bernard Curry were the first team to cross the finish line on Monday night, nabbing the top gong and $100,000 for their chosen charity.

The brothers walked away with funds for One in Five, which raises funds for research into mental health issues.

‘We know winning The Amazing Race is a really tough thing to do, and we’ve done it,’ Stephen said.

‘I can’t even believe it. And to have the experience with my best friend, my brother, is something that I will just never, ever forget.’

Fans flooded social media to celebrate the big win and voice their support for the victorious duo.
