Mingus Lucien Reedus, the son of actor Norman Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen, was taken into custody Saturday morning in Manhattan following an alleged assault.

Police say Reedus, 25, struck a woman in the leg, leaving visible redness, and then reportedly choked her and slammed her to the ground, per the New York Post.

A New York Police Department spokesperson confirmed the arrest but said Reedus has not been formally charged. 

Sources claimed he initially punched the woman to wake her up.

According to police, it was Reedus who made a 911 call around 8:40 a.m. to report a woman in an apartment on West 16th Street who was allegedly taking pills and threatening to kill herself.

According to police sources, when officers arrived on the scene, the 33-year-old woman accused Reedus of assaulting her.

Police arrested him, while the woman was then taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she was determined to be in stable condition. 

Photos obtained by the Post show Reedus wearing a black T-shirt and green athletic shorts as he is led out of the building by police and into a cruiser.

He was later seen grinning as he left the 10th precinct hours later in photos obtained by the Daily Mail, before officers escorted him into a waiting police vehicle

As he briefly stepped out in public, a reporter was said to have asked why Reedus called the police, to which he replied, ‘I didn’t.’ 

When the reporter asked him to ‘tell us what really happened,’ Reedus reportedly grinned and laughed, before responding, ‘No.’ 

According to the Post, Reedus said the altercation was ‘a misunderstanding’ before police shut him inside the car.   

A woman who claimed to be Reedus’ girlfriend used the same language, describing the incident as a big ‘misunderstanding.’ It’s unclear if the woman claiming to be Reedus’ girlfriend was also the woman he allegedly hit and choked.

A man who was seen leaving the precinct with her reportedly added, ‘You got your story all wrong.’ 

Public records indicate that he is living in a luxury Chelsea apartment. 

This is not his first legal issue. In March 2022, he accepted a plea deal after allegedly punching a woman during the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy in 2021. 

Authorities have not released further details.

DailyMail.com has not received a response to its request for comment from reps for Reedus.

In 2022, Mingus was sentenced to five private counseling sessions for punching a woman in the face — after pleading guilty to a downgraded charge of disorderly conduct. 

He originally faced a misdemeanor assault charge but his attorney Isabelle Kirschner told DailyMail.com that she negotiated with the District Attorney to downgrade the charge to disorderly conduct, which is only a violation in New York City.

Mingus had claimed that the woman and her friends were inebriated and followed him for two blocks, pulling his hair, throwing water in his face and threatening his friends.

His attorney previously told DailyMail.com that the allegations against him were ‘baseless.’

‘I believe that based on the evidence, there is no credible evidence to support the charges,’ Kirschner said before Mingus pled guilty.

Mingus – who has followed in the footsteps of his mother, an original Victoria’s Secret angel, was taken into custody following the September incident. 

His victim was hospitalized with a cut under her left eye, according to the NYPD. 

After the incident, Mingus told the New York Daily News that the woman was one of a ‘girls under the influence and looking for a fight’ that ‘swarmed’ him, and that the police officers who arrested him ‘refused to listen to the context.’

Mingus said the women followed him and his friends for two blocks, ‘throwing food at [them] and yelling.’ 

‘We told them to leave us alone, but they kept following, threatening to hurt my girlfriend and her friend.’

When the group reached the corner of Mulberry and Grand Streets, Mingus told the Daily News, the women set upon him, with ‘one pulling my hair from the back, another throwing water in my face.’

He said he ‘threw his arm out’ to protect himself, accidentally hitting the woman.

‘It was instinct,’ he explained. ‘I was reacting to them swarming me and was afraid for the safety of my group.’ 

The incident came just one week after Mingus made his Vogue cover debut. 

He was featured on the cover of the Vogue Hommes Paris’ fall-winter 2021-2022 issue alongside Parker Van Noord, son of the late male model Andre Van Noord.

Christensen and Reedus – who is best known for his role in The Walking Dead –  began dating in 1998. Mingus was born the following year. 

The high-profile couple split in 2003, before Reedus went on to date Diane Kruger. 

Reedus and Kruger welcomed their own child together, a daughter, in 2018.  

Mingus is Christensen’s only child.
