Sir Fred Chukwuelobe, who previously served as Ngige’s media aide, shared details of the attack, revealing that the gunmen shot a police officer assigned to the convoy. Following the shooting, the assailants seized the officer’s weapon and uniform, escalating the severity of the situation.

A subsequent police pursuit ensued, during which the attackers, who had stolen a white Mercedes-Benz SUV, were engaged in a high-speed chase and exchange of gunfire. The vehicle was eventually recovered by the authorities.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police, confirmed the incident and announced that a comprehensive manhunt has been initiated to apprehend the suspects who managed to flee the scene.

Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police PRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said a state-wide manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

He added that one police officer sustained minor gunshot injuries but is stable and receiving treatment. Authorities have secured the recovered vehicle for further investigations.

Reports obtained from Vanguard, claim that a woman filming the scene was shot dead, while a nearby shop owner who stepped out during the attack sustained injuries and is undergoing surgery. Casualty details remain unconfirmed as investigations continue.

Authorities’ officials have reassured the public that they are actively pursuing the attackers and will provide updates as more information emerges.
