Throughout Season 9 of Selling Sunset, Chrishell Stause has been at the center of controversy and drama.

Early in the season, Nicole Young made an insensitive remark about Chrishell’s late parents, setting the tone for what would be a tumultuous journey. As the episodes progressed, Chrishell found herself in the crosshairs of several cast members, particularly over her fractured friendship with former close ally Emma Hernan. These incidents have left viewers with much to ponder.

This installment of the popular Netflix series has been nothing short of taxing, with Chrishell constantly embroiled in conflicts. Nevertheless, she remains a fan favorite, admired for her resilience and socially aware perspective. Her ability to navigate the chaos with grace has led many to wonder about her future on the show. Rumors abound regarding her departure, fueled by subtle hints from Chrishell herself, suggesting that this might be her last season amid the emotional toll it has taken.

The online community seems to largely support this potential exit, with countless fans asserting that Chrishell is integral to the show’s success. Comments such as “Chrishell is the heart of the series” and “The show needs her more than she needs it” reflect the sentiment. Yet, the lingering question remains: does Chrishell wish to continue?

In a recent exclusive with Bustle, Chrishell confirmed that she is, indeed, stepping away from Selling Sunset after nine seasons.

“I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,” she said. “I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health.” What an end of an era.

Even before the announcement, the real estate agent had been hinting on leaving.

In an interview, Chrishell told Variety, “I liked this season,” she said. “I don’t think I had a hard season.” Then she added that she’s “excited to move on from this chapter.” Is she trying to say she wants to move past the drama onto another season? Or move past this reality TV era for good?

“The reunion was so brutal,” the real estate agent said. “In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward. I wish everyone the best, but this isn’t the place for me. It felt a little bit like a dog pile.”

Then, in an Instagram story, where she posted a TikTok uploaded by Emma’s notorious boyfriend, part of her caption read “I’m excited to be done with all of this very soon.”.

What Happened with Chrishell On Selling Sunset Season 9?

Although Chrishell told Variety she didn’t have a hard season, we beg to differ. Between the breakup with her best friend of many years and having someone bring up her late parents, it all seems pretty tough. And that’s not even all. Let’s take a step back.

During the first episode, after Chrishell called out Nicole’s alleged drug overdose at Girls Giving (their group Thanksgiving dinner), Nicole responded, “Honey, you’re confusing me with your parents, okay? You seem to be obsessed with drugs.” This comment sent the dinner into a frenzy, ending with Nicole getting kicked out. Even her good friends Mary and Amanza were appalled.

Throughout the season, we see Chrishell and Emma go through a rough patch because of Emma’s new beau, Blake. Chrishell was not a fan of her former best friend’s boyfriend, and even saying “not a fan” doesn’t give justice to how much Chrishell disapproves of him. From how Blake treated Emma to the racist and homophobic slurs Chrishell claims he uses, this ultimately led to their bestie breakup. This season was filmed last year, and they still haven’t rekindled their relationship today. That’s how deep it is.

Once the issues between Chrishell and Emma were brought to the forefront of the reunion, everyone criticized Chrishell for posting about Emma’s boyfriend, associating him with MAGA, on social media. From Mary Bonnet to Bre Tiesi and even Alanna Gold—who usually stays out of the drama— all put their 2 cents in. TL;DR, they all agreed that certain things need to stay off socials and that Chrishell went too far. Chrishell responded, “Guys, we’re on a reality show. Then don’t do a reality show.”

Another reunion tiff happened with Bre allegedly talking about Chrishell and her partner, G Flip, via text. To which Bre responded, “Here you go with your delulu bullshit,” and “I like G way more than I’ve ever liked you.” Things got fiery. And let’s not forget these two used to be very close. Yet another fallout between The Oppenheim Group girls.

To add on, Chrishell and the new girl, Sandra Vergara, had a fallout before a friendship could even start when Sandra accused her of not being welcoming. In the season finale, Sandra told other cast members that she was unsure if Chrishell even liked her. Chrishell responded to Variety, “I am going to be so open and honest about the fact that I am not here to make friends with you if you get cast on the show. I don’t want you to have that in your head, because I can’t win.”

Will There Be a Season 10 of Selling Sunset?

Although Chrishell won’t be back for another season, we’re not entirely sure if the show itself will even return for round 10. As of now, there hasn’t been any news of the show being renewed for another installment. But there is so much unfinished business from season 9 so fingers crossed there’s more to come.
