In a recent episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Christie Pearce Rampone candidly discussed her challenging divorce with the show’s directing staff.
Rampone, a celebrated former professional soccer player with three Olympic gold medals and two FIFA Women’s World Cup titles to her name, revealed that she returned to the soccer field just three months after the birth of her daughters. When questioned by the staff about her husband’s whereabouts during this time, she simply replied that he was “home.”
“I was the primary earner, constantly traveling and managing everything, and it was exhausting,” she explained. “Then I would come home to arguments. Being in a marriage where you’re not truly together leads to losing those emotional connections.”
She confessed to feeling “embarrassed” for portraying an image of having a “happy marriage” that didn’t reflect reality.
“For eight years, I was the captain of the national team, a strong woman leading with confidence. Yet, I struggled to leave my marriage. After retiring, it became clear it couldn’t work,” she admitted. “The divorce process has been incredibly difficult. It’s hard to move forward and find happiness.”
So, who is Christie’s ex-husband? And what did she say about her divorce when Decider caught up with her? Keep reading for everything we know.
Who is Christie Pearce Rampone’s Husband?
Christie Pearce Rampone was married to Chris Rampone from 2001 to 2017. They share two children: daughters Rylie, 21, and Reece, 16. Chris previously worked as an assistant baseball coach at Monmouth University for the 2005 season. Prior to that, he worked as a baseball coach at his alma mater, Monclair State University, for the 2003 and 2004 seasons, and a coach at New Brunswick High School in 2001 and 2002. It’s unclear what he does now.
When Decider caught up with Christie earlier this month, she opened up about her mirror room scene with the DS, revealing that she even has a “restraining order” against her ex-husband.
“I’ve had some trauma in my life,” she told us. “I’ve gone through some tough times. I’m divorced. Things didn’t go well. Unfortunately, I have a full restraining order on my ex-husband.”
“I divulged some of that information because it was my time to release it as well,” she continued. “I dealt with so much after I retired. My last eight, nine years have been crazy. I got it off the chest and I can move on. It was kind of just my own therapy within that room.”
