Chyler Leigh is reflecting on her cherished memories with Eric Dane.
The Grey’s Anatomy star, known for portraying Eric’s on-screen love interest on the popular ABC series, shared her thoughts on working alongside the Euphoria actor in the wake of his passing on February 19. Eric was 53 years old.
“The past 48 hours have been incredibly tough,” Chyler expressed in a statement to E! News. “I never imagined I’d be speaking about him in the past tense, but here we are, and I find it heartbreaking.”
She went on to praise Eric’s character, saying, “Eric possessed a heart of gold. His humor and especially his contagious laugh were unforgettable. He was highly intelligent and could engage in deep philosophical conversations for hours, even while we were filming. He was a dedicated father who adored his daughters fiercely and was passionate about his work and the causes he supported.”
Although the Burlesque actor, who was a father to 15-year-old Billie and 14-year-old Georgia with his estranged wife Rebecca Gayheart, passed nearly a year after revealing his ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) diagnosis, Chyler stressed that his legacy will endure.
“The Universe is undoubtedly holding Eric now,” she continued, “just as I will continue to do within my heart forever.”
