Ciara is opening up about her newly released CiCi album, and what better way to do so than through a conversation with her daughter Sienna.

In a special segment for Billboard Family, the Grammy-winning singer sat down with the 8-year-old for a candid conversation about music, family moments, and more.

Ciara, who began working on the album during the early days of the pandemic, reflected on the long creative journey behind her latest project.

“I actually started working on this like in the middle of the pandemic,” she said. “It’s been a long time coming with this project. So I like to say it’s a labor of love because I put a lot of time into it.”

The album includes 14 tracks, though Sienna expected way more. “I thought there would be like 300 then,” she quipped.

Ciara explained that the songs evolved over time, with some released early, including the now-gold track “How We Roll.”

“I wanted to make this project as a gift to my fans. It’s a gift of appreciation for all their love and support they give me.” the songstress shared.

As for what inspired the album, Ciara said, “I always get inspired by life and I always get inspired by all the feelings that I’m feelingb. And for this project, I was in a very, very happy place.”

She continued, “Also, again, thinking about my day one fans that have been supporting me since the very beginning, they really inspire me.”

To which Sienna said, “I’m a fan. I’m your number one fan”

“Aww,” Ciara said with a smile.

The mother-daughter duo also shared laughs over the idea of a musical collaboration with Ciara’s husband, Russell Wilson.

“No, Dad is crazy,” Sienna said. “His singing’s a little off. Seriously, I’m telling the truth.”

Ciara agreed with a laugh, “I think it is best that Dad plays football and Mommy does music.”

On CiCi, Ciara teased collaborations with Latto and Jazze Pha. The album also includes features from Lil Baby, Busta Rhymes, Big Freedia, Bossman Dlow and Chris Brown, according to the Apple Music tracklist.

But the sweetest moments came when the two talked about their bond — from Uno games and Disney’s Tron ride to makeup sessions and sleepovers.

“I love how we love each other. I love when we get together and and have fun.”

Looking ahead, the singer says she’s focused on taking her music worldwide. “I want to do a world tour… I want to travel to Asia, Australia, China, Europe.”

The interview wrapped on a high note, with Ciara praising Sienna’s hosting skills. “I thought you were outstanding. You were so much fun. This is very special. I’ve never been interviewed by you before.”
