Steve Bridges, a comedian celebrated for his viral POV-style sketches on TikTok, has passed away at the age of 41. His wife, Chelsey Bridges, shared the heartbreaking news in a heartfelt video posted to his Instagram account on October 17.

In the video, Chelsey revealed that Steve had “died peacefully in his sleep” on October 15. Fighting back tears, she expressed, “I’m truly sorry to share this with you in this manner. If I delay any further, I fear I won’t be able to say it.”

The couple had been married for 16 years and were parents to three children.

Bridges captivated an audience of over 2 million followers across TikTok and Instagram with his humorous and relatable sketches. His content often involved recreating everyday situations and impersonating exaggerated characters such as “baby daddies” and “solar panel salesmen.”

Chelsey was a frequent collaborator in his videos, often joining Steve in his beloved POV skits.

“Who you saw online was just the characters that he created,” she said. “He was so talented because he was the opposite of all of them.”

She added that behind the jokes, Steve was “the most attentive father, and the best, the best husband. And the greatest, sweetest man.”

“Thanks to you internet,” Chelsey said, “he’s been able to live his dream of making people laugh. I am so thankful that he got to do that.”

Chelsey also urged kindness in the wake of his passing, noting that their children would likely see comments online. “I’m not going to tell my children that they can’t grieve online,” she said. “I will probably grieve online too. This is life now. Please never take it for granted and try to live your dreams every day. Love your family and take care of yourself.”

Fans flooded the comment section with messages of grief and gratitude.

“I am SO very sorry for your loss. As a healthcare worker I absolutely loved his characters because they were SO real,” one person wrote.

Another added, “The world got a little darker. He really was my favorite content creator. Glad to experience his comedy.”
