Ademola Lookman has officially made his move from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid, finalizing a €40 million deal on the last day of the January transfer window.

The Nigerian international has committed to a long-term contract with the Spanish club, marking the end of his three-and-a-half-year tenure in Bergamo. He is set to embark on a new journey under the guidance of Atletico’s renowned manager, Diego Simeone.

“To the Atalanta family, after nearly four years, the time has come for me to say goodbye,” he wrote on Instagram.

“From the moment I arrived in Bergamo, you welcomed me like one of your own and pushed me to be the best version of myself.”

“Together, we made history. European champions, a night none of us will ever forget,” Lookman added.

“Scoring a hat-trick in a European final and lifting a trophy with this club after a 61 year trophy drought will stay with me.”

He also thanked the fans for their support, concluding: “Thank you for making Bergamo feel like home and for giving me memories I’ll carry forever. Grazie di tutto, ciao.”

Lookman now turns his focus to Atletico Madrid, where expectations will be high as he looks to replicate his Italian success in Spain.
