Live with Kelly and Mark was missing half of its signature duo this morning.

Instead of her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa was joined by Anderson Cooper on Tuesday’s episode. The two sat down with actress and Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known About Menopause author Naomi Watts and Ken Jennings, who dished on the new season of Celebrity Jeopardy!

Cooper has previously stepped in at the co-host desk, and was even mentioned during Ripa’s 2022 visit to Watch What Happens Live when asked who she would have as her “number two pick” if Ryan Seacrest hadn’t landed the gig as her co-host at the time.

“I love my ACs, of course, but they have jobs,” she explained, referring to Cooper and WWHL host Andy Cohen, who both shared the initials AC.

Ripa noted that she “love[s] her MC,” meaning Consuelos, though like Cooper and Cohen, he “had a job, too, at the time.”

She also said she she “would’ve had a woman in a heartbeat.”

Why was Mark Consuelos missing from Live with Kelly and Mark?

Both Live announcer Deja Vu and Ripa announced Cooper was filling in for Consuelos today, but aside from his introduction, there was no mention of Consuelos’ whereabouts.

When will Mark Consuelos return to Live with Kelly and Mark?

Consuelos will return to Live on Friday (Jan. 24), where he and Ripa will chat with Lucy Liu (Presence) and Omari Hardwick (Star Trek: Section 31). On Wednesday (Jan. 22), Ripa will be joined by Cohen as co-host, while Carson Kressley will be at the co-host desk on Thursday (Jan. 23).
