‘Paradise’ Creator Dan Fogelman Tells Fans They Won’t Have to Wait Long for Season 2: ‘I Promise’

Paradise fans won’t have to stay in their bunkers for long following the season 1 finale – because the Hulu series’ creator Dan Fogelman said the season 2 premiere is a short distance away.

“Please don’t wait two years to give us season 2 of Paradise @hulu,” a fan wrote via X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday, March 4.

Dan, 49, responded to the message, “We start shooting in just a few weeks. It won’t be 2 years I promise! #Paradise.”

The post-apocalyptic murder mystery was an instant success, raking in over 7 million views during its first nine days of streaming following the January 28 premiere.

The series stars Sterling K. Brown, who portrays Xavier Collins, a secret service agent who investigates the murder of President Cal Bradford, played by James Marsden. The storyline jumps back and forth from pre-apocalyptic to post-apocalyptic times, detailing how the political figures and elitists ended up as the chosen ones in the man-made town following natural disasters that destroyed Earth.

News broke that Paradise was renewed for season 2 just a few weeks ago, leading fans to share their admiration over the project.

“Paradise is renewed for Season 2! Let’s go! #ParadiseHulu is now streaming on Hulu and with #HuluOnDisneyPlus. New episode Tuesday!” the show’s official Instagram captioned the February 20 post.

In the video, a fan’s comment read, “God damn one season ain’t enough.” Sterling, 48, gave homage to the show in his response as he unveiled the palm of his hand that had the words “Season 2” written on them.

“Phew!! We need MORE!!” Sterling’s This Is Us costar Chrissy Metz commented under the post. Meanwhile, a fan gushed, “I’m beyond ready for y’all to stress me out once a week!!!”

Sterling and James’ close bond transferred from on screen to real life during filming. Not only did the actors know that Paradise was going to be a hit, but the This Is Us alum knew James, 51, would receive high accolades for his work in the series.

“I remember, we were shooting 107, I said, ‘You ready big dog?’ And he goes, ‘Ready for what?’ I said, ‘Number two,’” Sterling recalled to Variety in a story published on February 25. “And he goes, ‘Number two?’ I was like, ‘Ya, you got the first one for Jury Duty — number two is coming.’ He goes, ‘Are you ready for number 10?’ I was like, ‘Hey, don’t talk about me, bro! We talking about you!’”

Without giving away spoilers, the Paradise season 1 finale ends on a cliffhanger after Cal’s murderer is revealed. That said, Dan concluded the season with looming questions knowing that there would be a second – and third – season.

“I felt confident we were going to get a Season 2, though I’ve been confident before and gotten screwed by ending on a cliffhanger that never gets an answer. So, it’s a very fair question. But I never really questioned that, honestly,” Dan previously told Variety. “If I felt the show had been turning out terribly in the edit bay, maybe I would have ended it more completely. But this was always the plan.”
