Daniel Stern has been dropped from the ABC pilot Do You Want Kids? following allegations of soliciting prostitution.

A recent Deadline article, dated Thursday, January 15, revealed that Stern, aged 68, will no longer participate in the comedy series, which features Rachel Bloom and Rory Scovel in leading roles. The report indicates that Stern’s character will be recast.

Stern was slated to be a series regular in this single-camera comedy, announced in December 2025. The narrative explores the lives of Rosie (played by Bloom) and Alex Zilbalodis (portrayed by Scovel) as they navigate the alternative realities of having a child or remaining child-free. The storyline delves into how this life-changing decision impacts their world. The show, co-written by Bloom and her real-life spouse, TV writer Dan Gregor, had Stern set to play the role of the Zilbalodis family patriarch.

Us Weekly has reached out to ABC for their comments on the situation.

Home Alone launched the career of Macaulay Culkin — and three decades later, fans are still quoting the iconic 1990s Christmas film. “Christmas is my time of year,” Culkin exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2019. “I get recognized 10 times more between the months of November and January. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in November 2015, Stern opened up about how appearing in the iconic movies impacted his life in a good way.

“What a way for me to go through my life when people lose themselves to me in that way,” he told the outlet at the time. “It changed my life; it opened doors for people connecting with me, wanting to tell me about the experience they had in their childhood and passing it on to their children, how they celebrate Christmas, how it made them laugh.”

In 1980, Stern married his wife, Laure Mattos, and the couple recently renewed their vows on a surprise ceremony during a 2019 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Stern and Mattos share three children: daughters Ella and Sophie and son Henry Stern, who is a California State Senator.

The Wonder Years alum made headlines in October 2025 when he was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical emergency.
