Danielle Fishel revealed she will be dedicating her next Dancing with the Stars routine to her former Boy Meets World co-star, longtime actor William Daniels.
Fishel announced the news on a recent episode of her on her podcast Danielle With the Stars, which focuses on the ABC competition series.
“Mr. Feeny himself is going be on the ballroom floor with me,” she said.
Fishel will be dancing with her partner Pasha Pashkov to the Boy Meets World theme song, but Daniels “is going to be on the ballroom floor with us and he’s going to participate in the dance as well.”
“Saying it out loud feels crazy,” Fishel said. “But yes, we get to dance to the Boy Meets World theme song, the one you all know and love.”
Next Tuesday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars marks Dedication Night, in which the contestants will have the opportunity to dedicate their dance to someone impactful from their lives. It’s fitting that Fishel chose to dedicate her dance to the 98-year-old actor who shared the screen with her for seven years from 1993 to 2000.
Daniels starred as George Feeny, Cory’s (Ben Savage) teacher and neighbor who always offered much-needed advice to the teen ensemble.
Daniels later reprised his role in the Disney+ reboot Girl Meets World, which followed Cory and Topanga’s lives as parents.
“It’s really a dedication to Bill and the role he has played in my life and the role Boy Meets World has played in my life,” Fishel said on the podcast. “He’s just such an inspiration to so many of us. And to be able to say thank you to him and give him this kind of a platform for him to receive the love that he deserves is going to be very memorable.”
Fishel added that there will also be some “special guests” showing their support from the audience.
In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Fishel praised Daniels’s “incredible career.”
“He is 98 years old. He was a child actor. He’s had the most incredible career,” Fishel said. “I feel like I’m having a second act in my life and in my career at 44 years old. To see him at 98 still going to conventions, he’s gonna be on the ballroom floor next week, and he was part of a show that completely changed my life.”
Dancing with the Stars air Tuesday evenings at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+. New episodes are available to stream next day on Hulu.
