‘Once’ 

This critically acclaimed indie film follows a vacuum repairman (Glen Hansard) and a Czech immigrant (Markéta Irglová) in Dublin who connect through a shared love of music. “Falling Slowly,” a song from the movie, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2008.

‘As Luck Would Have It’ 

JoAnna Garcia Swisher from Sweet Magnolias and Allen Leech from Downton Abbey co-star in the Hallmark Channel rom-com set in Ireland. Swisher plays an American working in real estate who travels to Ireland to acquire a property that’s perfect for a resort. One there, she decides to enter the town’s matchmaking festival to prove her investment and win over a handsome local (Leech).

‘Forever In My Heart’ 

Another Hallmark flick set in the Emerald Isle, Forever In My Heart stars Merritt Patterson and Jack Tarn as Jenna and Charlie, who find love in Ireland. Unfortunately, their dreams end up driving them apart. Five years later, they reunite, forcing Jenna to decide where her heart really belongs. 

Forever in My Heart is streaming on Hallmark+.

‘Brooklyn’ 

In this acclaimed 2015 romantic drama, Saoirse Ronan stars as Eilis, a young Irish woman who immigrates to Brooklyn in the 1950s in search of a better opportunities. But as she builds a life in America, a homesick Eilis finds herself drawn back to her hometown.

‘The Quiet Man’ 

John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara star in this classic romantic drama directed by John Ford. Wayne plays a retired boxer who returns to his hometown in Ireland with the goal of purchasing the old family farm. There, he falls for a fiery redhead, whose brother also wants to buy the farm.
