The glitz and glamour of Hollywood are set to shine once more as the 2026 Oscars approach. Ahead of the grand event, the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards have been unveiled.

Actors Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks took to the stage in California on Thursday, January 22, to announce this year’s nominees.

This year marks a significant milestone for the Oscars as the awards introduce a category honoring casting. For the first time, up to two casting directors per film will have the chance to take home a coveted trophy. Additionally, the Academy is gearing up for the 100th awards ceremony set for 2027, where a new category for stunt design will be introduced.

The 2026 Oscars will showcase 24 categories, with each featuring five nominees. However, the Best Picture category will stand out with 10 nominees vying for the top honor.

The excitement of the 2026 awards season is palpable, with major events like the Golden Globes, Oscars, and Grammy Awards looming on the horizon. The season will officially commence with the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes in January, hosted by comedians Chelsea Handler and Nikki Glaser, respectively, promising a star-studded start to the year.

Conan O’Brien is set to return as the host of the awards show for the second consecutive year.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang said in a March 2025 press release that they are “thrilled to bring back Conan” as well as producers Raj Kapoor, Katy Mullan, Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney to the Oscars after “a hugely entertaining and visually stunning show that celebrated our nominees and the global film community in the most beautiful and impactful way.”

As for O’Brien, Kramer and Yang described him as “the perfect host — skillfully guiding us through the evening with humor, warmth and reverence.”

For his part, O’Brien, 62, joked, “The only reason I’m hosting the Oscars next year is that I want to hear Adrien Brody finish his speech.” (After winning Best Actor in a Leading Role for The Brutalist in 2025, Brody, 52, gave the longest acceptance speech in Oscars history, clocking in at five minutes and 40 seconds.)

Hollywood Legends Who Have Snubbed the Oscars Will Smith Kendrick Lamar More

Samir Hussein/WireImage A huge part of awards season revolves around which actors and actresses are snubbed by the Oscars – but rejection can cut both ways. Before this year’s nominations were announced, the Academy announced in December 2025 that the awards show broadcast will move to YouTube in 2029, with a deal scheduled to extend through 2033.

The 98th annual Oscars will air on ABC Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. ET. Keep scrolling to see the complete list of this year’s Oscars nominees:
