Curious about the charming young doctor in the Scrubs revival? Well, you’re not alone!
On Wednesday night, fans tuning into ABC’s Scrubs revival were thrilled to reunite with beloved characters like Dr. John “J.D” Dorian (played by Zach Braff), Dr. Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke), and Dr. Christopher Turk (Donald Faison). The return also brought back familiar faces such as Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) and nurse Carla (Judy Reyes).
Joining the seasoned cast are new additions, forming the show’s fresh lineup of medical and surgical interns. Among these newcomers are Sam Tosh (Ava Bunn), Dr. Dashana Trainor (Amanda Morrow), Dr. Asher Green (Jacob Dudman), and Dr. Amara Hadi (Layla Mohammadi).
While each of the interns is making a strong impression in the initial episodes—set to hit streaming platforms on Thursday following their ABC premiere—one intern, in particular, is capturing viewers’ attention. In the debut episode, “My Return,” the spotlight is on the charismatic and self-assured intern Blake Lewis, leaving fans eager to learn more!
So, who’s the actor portraying Blake in this Scrubs revival? Meet David Gridley, the talent bringing this character to life…
Who Plays Blake In Scrubs? Meet David Gridley:
While he may be new to playing a doctor and one in the Scrubs universe, David Gridley is certainly no newcomer to Hollywood. In fact, the 35-year-old actor has been in the industry since 2013 and has appeared in more than three dozen projects thus far.
Early in his career, Gridley — who hails from Atlanta, Georgia — guest-starred in shows like Army Wives on Lifetime and CW’s Dynasty, while also making brief appearances in notable projects like The Duff with Mae Whitman and Robbie Amell, according to his IMDB page.
In 2018, the actor starred alongside Eric Dane in The Last Ship, playing Henry Bell for five episodes on the five-season TNT drama. He then jumped from project to project, consistently working before being selected as one of 10 actors to take part in Disney’s 2023-2024 talent showcase. From there, he booked one-episode stints in ABC series like High Potential and The Rookie, as well as CBS’ FBI: International.
Those roles, of course, helped him land his now-starring role in the new version of Bill Lawrence‘s classic doctor comedy, for which he is already receiving rave reviews. It’s Gridley’s character who experiences the revival’s first heartbreak, as Blake refuses to see a patient out in the hospital parking lot, only for her to die later in the episode.
It’s this loss and the support that his fellow interns give him that makes J.D. decide to return to Sacred Heart, so we predict his character is going to be integral to the story moving forward!
