Jury Duty: Company Retreat offers a unique comedic twist by casting actors as everyday employees at a hot sauce company. But you might be wondering, where have you seen these faces before?
This comedy series made its debut on Prime Video in 2023, showcasing the journey of a group of potential jurors as they navigate the selection process and subsequent civil trial. The catch? While most of the participants are actors, one individual remains blissfully unaware that the entire scenario is staged for entertainment.
Meet Ronald Gladden, a contractor who unwittingly became the show’s focal point after responding to a vaguely worded Craigslist ad seeking participants for a documentary on jury duty.
“I thought it was going to be a behind-the-scenes look at jury duty,” Gladden shared with Access Hollywood in April 2023. “I signed up believing it was a documentary. It wasn’t until the end that I realized what was happening.”
This Amazon Freevee series, which premiered earlier this month, is anything but an ordinary jury duty experience. The comedic ensemble, each playing a role in the farcical trial, interacts with the unsuspecting Gladden, who becomes the unwitting star of the show. The early episodes cleverly blur the lines between reality and fiction, offering viewers a delightful and unexpected twist on the legal process.
In addition to Gladden, James Marsden, Mekki Leeper, Edy Modica, Ishmel Sahid, David Brown, Cassandra Blair, Maria Russell and Kirk Fox made up the cast. Susan Berger, Ross Kimball, Pramode Kumar, Ron Song and Brandon Loeser also appeared.
Season 2, which premiered in March 2026, follows Anthony Norman, who is hired at Rockin’ Grandma’s Hot Sauce as a temp while unaware that the company is fake.
