Details are emerging about why Meghan King, formerly of “The Real Housewives Of Orange County,” temporarily lost custody of her children.

According to Page Six, the 41-year-old, who was previously married to Jim Edmonds, allegedly administered prescription medication to her seven-year-old son, Hayes, which had not been prescribed to him.

Insiders reveal that King gave Hayes several doses of Ritalin, a medication typically used for managing attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), despite Hayes not having an ADHD diagnosis.

The Daily Mail has attempted to reach Meghan King’s representatives for comment but has not yet received any feedback. Jim Edmonds’ representatives have opted not to comment on the situation.

Us Weekly has reported, citing multiple sources, that King lost temporary custody of her children—eight-year-old daughter Aspen and her twin sons Hart and Hayes, both seven—following a report to Child Protective Services (CPS) from a staff member at their school.

The latest report alleges that CPS was contacted after King asked a school nurse to give Hayes doses of the ADHD medication.

Page Six’s source claims that King’s ex-husband Edmonds, 55, and his wife Kortnie had been staying at their home in Tennessee when he was contacted by CPS, so the two got on a plane for Missouri to rejoin his children.

While Edmonds now has sole physical custody of the children, the insider says that King is allowed to have supervised visits with the three children two times per week.

They added that a temporary restraining order had been granted, but the order and the children’s custody arrangement would be considered at an upcoming hearing on December 9.

Former RHOC star Kelly Dodd, whose tenure on the series overlapped with King’s, appeared to confirm that her former costar had temporarily lost custody of her children in a TikTok video posted Thursday.

In the clip, Dodd said she had spoken on the phone with King after the news broke.

She claimed King said she had been deemed a ‘dangerous mother’ for allegedly given Hayes Ritalin, but Dodd defended her friend, calling her a ‘good mother.’

‘So I just got off the phone with Meghan King Edmonds,’ Dodd told her fans. ‘And she said that she gave one of her other twins Hayes some Ritalin, I guess, and it made her a “dangerous mother.”‘

‘This I do know, and we’ve had a lot of differences and a lot of fights, and a lot of things, she stayed at my house, I took care of her when she got her boobs and her nose done, and I can tell you: she loves those babies, she loves those kids, and I know for a fact she’s a good mother,’ Dodd declared. ‘She is an excellent mother.’

Dodd, who was seen pacing around her kitchen in the clip, added that she was ‘pray[ing]’ for to get ‘her babies back.’

‘Everyone just pray for Meghan and her family. Those boys and that daughter need their mom, they need their mother,’ she continued. ‘It’s terrible, it’s terrible what is going on right now. All we can do is pray for Meghan,’ she said.

Dodd concluded by captioning her video: ‘#meghanking pray for her .. She lost custody of her kids ! #prayers #losingcustodyoftheirkids.’

King and Edmonds’ custody battle comes after police were called on King earlier this year after she allegedly refused to leave her ex-husband’s home.

The former couple wed in 2014, but King filed for divorce in 2019, and their divorce was finalized two years later.

One source reportedly told the publication that the CPS was called not by Edmonds or his current wife Kortnie Edmonds — whom he married in 2022 — but by an employee at the children’s elementary school.

The call subsequently launched an investigation, which resulted in King temporarily losing custody of the kids.

As of now, King’s lost of custodial rights is only temporary, and a source told the publication that a court hearing scheduled for December will determine if the current arrangement would be made permanent.

The loss of custody follows an altercation at the home Edmonds and his fourth wife share on May 1 of this year.

King was accused of going into the Missouri home ‘several times’ and ‘causing a disturbance’ on May 1 in a police report listing Edmonds’ current wife Kortnie as the ‘victim’ who had called the cops.

RHOC star King has disputed the claims and told police she visited the home to drop off clothes for the former couple’s daughter.

Per the report, obtained by the Daily Mail, Kortnie claims King arrived at the home around 5 p.m. and ‘rang the doorbell multiple times.’

Kortnie claimed she walked to the door to get Aspen’s dress that King was supposed to ‘leave at the doorstep.’

The report stated: ‘Meghan refused to hand Kortnie the dress and ‘pulled away and asked to speak to’ [her daughter].

‘Kortnie told Meghan that [her daughter] wasn’t home and she was at a baseball game with Jim’.

Kortnie claimed King became ‘upset’ – before she asked King to leave the dress and closed the front door of the home.

She claimed as she walked back to her office, she ‘heard Meghan inside the home yelling for [her daughter]. Kortnie walked back to the front door and observed Meghan standing inside the house approximately 5 feet from the doorway.’

Kortnie allegedly then told King to get out and it was claimed: ‘Meghan slowly walked back outside the residence, but wedged her foot in the door briefly so Kortnie couldn’t shut the door completely. After Meghan moved her foot, Kortnie closed the door.’

Per the report Kortnie initially declined to press charges but later ‘called the police department to state she did want to press charges for harassment.’

Ex professional baseball player Edmonds later arrived at the home and ‘told officers he had surveillance footage of the encounter.’

The publication reports on June 6, the parties ‘agreed to a consent order where King would not come near Kortnie, they would stay 150 feet away from each other at activities for the children and King would not mention Kortnie on social media.’

A source told Us Weekly King agreed to the order to ‘avoid prolonged litigation.’

On August 12 charges were ‘refused’ in the case and it was later reclassified as ‘inactive’.

Per the publication, Kortnie filed a restraining order against King after the incident.

While police were on the way to the home, they were notified that King was leaving the scene in a Jeep. They saw the Jeep and pulled her over.

The report read: ‘Meghan advised she had contacted her ex-husband, Jim Edmonds, earlier in the day to arrange the clothing drop off. Meghan contacted Jim’s current wife, Kortnie Edmonds.’

A source close to King to Us Weekly that she was on her way to an event in St. Louis when Edmonds called her to drop off Aspen’s communion dress, to which she agreed, and asked to speak with their daughter when she arrived.

The source claimed Kortnie was ‘visibly upset’ to see King and allegedly ‘told her to leave the dress and leave immediately.’

It was claimed that King declined to so and told Kortnie she had spoken with Jim, who was not at home at the time, about needing to speak with Aspen, which allegedly led to Kortnie calling the police.

The insider told Us Weekly said King denied the request and explained she talked to Jim — who was not home when she arrived — about needing to talk to their daughter, which led to Kortnie calling the police.

The source said police ‘deescalated the situation quickly’ and King was not arrested or detained.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Meghan King and the Frontenac Police Department for comment.

King’s representative claimed to the publication that the incident had been ‘mischaracterized’ in a statement and said she ‘never stepped inside’ the home.

They said: ‘Meghan briefly called to her daughter from the doorway, never stepped inside, had the door slammed in her face, and calmly left her belongings on the porch. Upon leaving, she was unexpectedly blocked by multiple police vehicles and treated in a way that felt unnecessarily hostile.

King’s representative claimed that Meghan had often been the victim in her dealings with Edmonds, rather than ‘the other way around.’

‘It should also be noted that Meghan has had primary responsibility for her children for some time now, with the other side’s involvement limited to select occasions,’ they added.

Edmonds and Kortnie’s representative said they would ‘let the facts speak for themselves.’

King was Edmonds’ third wife when they married in 2014. His first marriage was to LeAnn Horton with whom he has two daughters.

King and Edmonds welcomed three children together before splitting in 2019.

Edmonds wed former Playboy Bunny and King’s one-time friend, Kortnie O’Connor in 2022 – the pair got engaged just two months after his divorce from King was finalized.

Horton died of colon cancer in 2015 by which time they had put any bitterness behind them – she even attended his wedding to King.

His second marriage was to Allison Jayne Raski in 2008. The couple had two children, son, Landon, and daughter, Hutton, and their divorce was finalized shortly before his marriage to King in 2014.

King had spoken publicly about her dismay and sense of betrayal on learning that he was in a relationship with Kortnie, a woman whom, she said, she had considered a friend and with whom the couple once had a threesome.

The former couple have also warred publicly after Edmonds denied King’s claim their son Hart has cerebral palsy. Edmonds acknowledges Hart has periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), a condition involving damage to the brain’s white matter.
