Disney announced it will be increasing prices yet again on Disney+, Hulu and several bundled services, just days after facing backlash over ABC’s controversial decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Per Variety, the ad-supported Disney+ plan will increase in price by two dollars from $9.99 to $11.99. The price for the ad-free Disney+ Premium tier will increase from $15.99 to $18.99 a month. Hulu (with ads) will also increase from $9.99 to $11.99, though the ad-free Hulu Premium plan will remain at $18.99. The Disney+ bundles with ESPN Select , HBO Max, and Live TV, with or without ads, will also see an increase in price.

The new prices go into effect beginning Oct. 21.

Disney last increased prices in August 2024, when the basic Disney+ plan with ads increased from $7.99 a month to $9.99 and the premium, ad-free tier reached $15.99. Hulu also faced a similar price increase.

Variety reports the company was planning the price increase “for weeks,” but the announcement notably comes just days after the company faced backlash for ABC’s decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live indefinitely following his remarks about the late Charlie Kirk, prompting several users to cancel their subscriptions in protest.

It is unclear if ABC suffered a major financial loss for its decision to pull Kimmel off the air. However, Deadline reports Disney’s stock fell in price from $116 to $112 per share, or a 3.5% decrease, after news broke.

But Live is now returning to ABC beginning Tuesday, Sept. 23, with Glen Powell and Sarah McLachlan set to appear.

Disney announced the news Monday, noting the company had many “thoughtful conversations” with Kimmel to reach a solution.

“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” Disney’s statement reads. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

President Trump had celebrated ABC’s decision to cancel Kimmel’s show. “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED,” President Trump wrote on TruthSocial. “Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible.”

Live will not be available to watch on all ABC affiliate channels as broadcast group Sinclair vowed it would continue preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live in protest. However, it will be available to stream on Hulu.
