Marvel enthusiasts have cause for celebration as the beloved superhero team, the Fantastic Four, makes its long-awaited debut on Disney+.
After hitting theaters in July and becoming available for video-on-demand in September, the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has now landed on Disney’s streaming service, accessible to subscribers at no extra cost.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps represents the third cinematic attempt in 25 years to successfully adapt this iconic superhero team for the big screen. This iteration, however, is notable for integrating Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman into the broader MCU. Fans can look forward to seeing this talented cast reprise their roles in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie set for the following year.
Set in the 1960s, the film follows the adventures of Reed Richards (played by Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) as they strive to defend Earth and secure their family’s future against a formidable extraterrestrial menace.
In her review, DECIDER’s Senior Critic Meghan O’Keefe praised the film, stating that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is “everything Marvel needed it to be and more.” She described the film as “a love letter to the comics that launched the Marvel brand so many decades ago and a promise to fans that the MCU’s days are not numbered.”
