Erin Paine is on the ‘the road to recovery,’ her husband Chad Paine said in a September 6 update.
The Duggar family is keeping Erin Paine of UPtv’s reality series Bringing Up Bates and her husband Chad Paine in their thoughts as she fights to recover after giving birth to her seventh child.
Erin Paine experiences health crisis after giving birth
Erin, 34, has been in the hospital since welcoming baby Henry on August 25. She developed “a severe UTI and kidney infection, which sent her into septic shock,” Chad shared in an Instagram update on September 1.
A few days later, he shared more bad news. His wife had experienced a “lengthy and severe” seizure. She was in the ICU, and he was fearful for what the future might hold.
“As her husband, it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced … I love her more deeply than words can express, and I can’t even imagine life without my best friend,” he wrote on September 4.
Chad’s update led to a flood of support from the family’s followers. Among those praying for the mom of seven were various Duggars, who are longtime friends of the Bates family. (Like the Duggar kids, Erin comes from a very large family. Her parents, Kelly Jo and Gil Bates, have 19 children.)
“Chad, we are upholding you all in prayer daily,” wrote Jinger Duggar Vuolo. Her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, reiterated in a separate commented that he was also praying for Erin.
“Praying for y’all!” wrote Jinger’s elder sister Jill Duggar Dillard.
“Praying for you all,” Jessa Duggar Seewald echoed. Jana Duggar Wissman shared a similar message in a comment.
Fortunately, doctors’ efforts to stabilize Erin seemed to have worked. On September 6, Chad said that his wife’s condition had improved.
“With tears in our eyes, we are praising the Lord that we are on the road to recovery,” he captioned a video of a still-hospitalized Erin kissing her newborn. “Your prayers have definitely touched heaven.”
“Praise the Lord,” Jessa replied.
“His little smile has me tearing up,” Erin’s sister Katie Bates Clark wrote. “So thankful for answered prayers.”
