It’s an exciting weekend for fans of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe. The highly anticipated Season 2 premiere of Marshals, starring Luke Grimes, is nearly here, prompting viewers to ask what the series’ return means for the future of Dutton Ranch.
Season 1 of Dutton Ranch concluded on July 3, 2026, with Episode 9, “El Padrino,” leaving several major storylines unresolved. Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) feared for Carter (Finn Little) after his kidnapping by the cartel. Beulah (Annette Bening) and Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) grieved Rob-Will (Jai Courtney), whose death came as a shock. Meanwhile, Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba)—who viewers are led to believe killed his brother—confronted his father, Mariano (Raoul Max Trujillo), in town.

Its two-episode debut on Paramount Network also drew 2.9 million total viewers on May 15, making it the largest cable-series premiere since 2023. Will There Be A Dutton Ranch And Marshals Crossover?
Grimes has confirmed that Beth and Rip will not appear in Marshals Season 2. Still, the possibility of Kayce appearing in the sister series remains open, particularly because Dutton Ranch is expected to film its second season in 2027 and Grimes has recently discussed the possibility of a Dutton sibling reunion.
“It’s not out of the question that we might have some sort of crossover at some point. Beth’s basically Kayce’s only living family member other than Tate. It would make sense that down the line we’d at least talk,” Grimes told TV Insider. “[Kelly and I have] texted about it back and forth a lot, talked about how it’d be fun and necessary for our story arcs, however they’re going to end.”
Grimes’ comments arrived only months after Reilly and Hauser expressed similar enthusiasm about the idea. For fans hoping to see a Marshals and Dutton Ranch crossover, the possibility remains alive.
