Dutton Ranch Season 2 Welcomes Fresh Showrunner Following Chad Feehan’s Departure

Season 2 of Dutton Ranch has been given the green light!

The spin-off from Yellowstone made a significant impact, swiftly climbing the ranks to become one of the highest-rated shows on Paramount+. Following its debut, it captivated 12.9 million global viewers in just a week.

The narrative centers around Beth Dutton, portrayed by Kelly Reilly, and Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler as they build a new existence in South Texas. With its inaugural season concluding this Friday (July 3), anticipation grows among fans speculating about what lies ahead in Season 2.

Even though the renewal was confirmed a month after the show debuted, uncertainty swirled around the role of the series’ showrunner. The previous showrunner, Chad Feehan, exited the project before the show’s launch.

Fortunately, the uncertainty has ended with the appointment of a new showrunner. While the production timetable is yet to be finalized, the Dutton Ranch team can now cross ‘find new showrunner’ off their list of tasks. Who is the New Dutton Ranch Season 2 Showrunner?

In a Hollywood Reporter exclusive, it was revealed Benjamin Cavell has officially been tapped at the new showrunner for Season 2 of Dutton Ranch.

Cavell has worked with CBS/Paramount+ before as the creator of the series SEAL Team, which ran for seven years. He has also written for Homeland, The Godfather of Harlem, and created the series The Institute based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.

What Happened to Chad Feehan, Dutton Ranch Creator and Former Showrunner?

The official reason for Chad Feehan’s departure is unknown, however he departed the series shortly before it’s season premiere.

Stars and executive producers Reilly and Hauser have spoken out on Feehan’s departure in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. Reilly notably Hauser notably remarked, “showrunners change all the time. This business is about adapting. We’ve been doing this for a long time. Things change. People move on.”

When Is Dutton Ranch‘s Finale?

The finale of Dutton Ranch will air on Friday, July 3 on the Paramount network at 8 p.m. ET, but will be available for streaming on Paramount+ earlier the same day at 3:01 a.m. ET.
