DWTS’ Jenna Johnson and Harry Shum Jr. Respond to Carrie Ann Inaba’s Criticism

DWTS’ Harry Shum Jr. Stands by His Dance Experience After He and Jenna Johnson Earn the Night’s Highest Score

Carrie Ann Inaba and Jenna Johnson found themselves in a tense exchange during the latest episode.

After the Dancing With the Stars judge corrected the dance professional over a detail in her performance with partner Harry Shum Jr. during the Oct. 13 episode, Johnson said she was prepared to “take all the feedback.”

“I absolutely hear what they’re saying,” Johnson exclusively told E! News in a joint interview with Shum. “Again, this is a competition. There are judges for a reason. They do need to give feedback. So, yeah, we will take it.”

During “Super Bowl Night,” the pair performed a samba set to Usher’s “Yeah!” and earned 33 out of 40 points from the judges.

“I want to go far in this competition with Harry,” Johnson added. “He deserves to be here, so let’s do it.”

So, what did 44-year-old Shum make of the judges’ critique?

“We wanted to also, between us, honor the task we were given, which is put a halftime show in one minute and whatever 12 seconds,” he explained. “So, the risk that we took I guess was just doing a halftime show and making it as explosive as possible while also doing a lot of samba.”
