Angel Iris Murphy, the child of Spice Girls singer Melanie “Mel B” Brown and actor-comedian Eddie Murphy, officially turned 18 on April 3, 2025.

Melanie “Mel B” Brown celebrated her son’s big day on Instagram with a touching birthday message.

The Spice Girls alum posted several photos of Angel and wrote, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ANGEL !!! I cannot believe youre 18 You are so special and so bright and so talented!! I couldnt be prouder of watching you grow and become the person you are but youll forever be my babyyyy I hope you keep chasing yor dreams and be kind to everyone around you like you always have been my Angel. Love you always.”

Mel B and Murphy welcomed Angel Iris on April 3, 2007. In a previous interview with OK! Magazine, Brown shared that Angel arrived nine days early and that she drove herself to the hospital while in labor.

“I was by myself but I didn’t want to be dramatic and call an ambulance,” she explained. “So I just got into the car and drove to the hospital.”

Mel B also opened up about the meaning behind Angel’s name. “She is my angel, she was my little angel through my pregnancy,” she said. “Iris, as it’s my grandma’s name.”

While Angel has kept his birth name, he now identifies with he/him pronouns. He confirmed this in response to a fan’s comment under his mom’s birthday post.

The fan wrote, “That second picture is exactly how old she was when I met her!! The only baby to look like she worked out at the gym! Cutest little thing.”

Another quickly corrected the fan with “*him / *he,” and when someone asked how they knew Angel’s pronouns, Angel himself responded, “they are on my profile!”
