SIR ELTON John appeared on Saturday Night Live to give an ‘incredible’ performance with musician Brandi Carlile from their new album.

The 78-year-old pop legend recently released Who Believes in Angels? with Brandi, and it has already been hailed as a masterpiece and a “true meeting of talent”.

For the show’s musical segment, Elton showed he is still as fantastic as ever as he belted out the lyrics and played the piano flawlessly.

Wearing a white shacket, matching trousers, and his trademark square-framed glasses – this time in bright lime green – Elton appeared in great spirits.

Following the show’s airing, Elton and Brandi’s performance was shared on YouTube and it was quickly inundated with positive comments.

One user gushed: “What an absolutely beautiful collaboration.” A second fan penned: “Two incredible voices. Love this.” While a third viewer remarked that it was “Soul quenching”.

Another person enthused: “I never watch the musical guest. This time I had to. Sounded great. Like the good old days listening to the radio. Beautiful song.”

This week, the episode was hosted by actor Jack Black, who is currently on a promo tour for his new Minecraft movie.

In addition to his show-stopping performance with Brandi and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Elton showed why he’s still ‘a little bit funny’ by taking part in some jokes with Jack.

Elton’s sensational performance comes after he revealed he had lost vision in his right eye in July after contracting an infection on holiday in the South of France. At the time admitted his left eye is “not the greatest.”

Now the Tiny Dancer hitmaker has told of the impact of his condition, and told an interviewer from The Times: “I can see you, but I can’t see TV, I can’t read.

“I can’t see my boys playing rugby and soccer, and it has been a very stressful time because I’m used to soaking it all up.”

Elton and husband David Furnish, 62, share sons Zachary, 14, and Elijah, aged 12.

Too Low For Zero singer Elton added of his blindness: “It’s distressing. You get emotional, but you have to get used to it because I’m lucky to have the life I have.

“I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of here [his left eye.]

“So you say to yourself, just get on with it.”
