Nollywood star Mercy Aigbe was deeply moved by emotion at the Service of Songs held in memory of her late mother, Madam Grace Abisola Owodunni, on Thursday, November 27th.

Having announced her mother’s death a few days earlier, Mercy is now making arrangements for the burial, which is set to take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Lekki, Lagos.

A poignant moment captured in an online video shows Mercy leading the pallbearers into the service venue, overwhelmed with tears. This service signifies the commencement of the final farewell for Madam Owodunni.

In a different vein, Nollywood actress Sochima Ezeoke has taken to social media to express her frustration, claiming she was replaced in a movie role due to her lack of a “massive backside” or “hot body.”

In a viral video posted to her Instagram, the actress disclosed that she was initially given a maid’s role two weeks prior. However, upon arriving on set, she alleged the role was swapped by the director.

Ezeoke confronted the lady who received her original role, asking:

“Are you not the one playing the village girl? Why are you acting innocent?”

The actress later expressed her strong displeasure, claiming the decision was unfair, especially since the director allegedly lacked the physique they were demanding:

“I don’t like to bring any issue to social media, but I must speak up. How can you swap my role simply because I don’t have a ‘HOT BODY’. Coming from a director with a flat ass.”

She further claimed that the role’s producer had initially contacted her because she knew Ezeoke could deliver the performance, but she was relegated to playing the house maid instead.

Ezeoke concluded by speaking up for other capable actors facing similar body-shaming issues in the industry:

“I’m speaking up for all the actors who can act but doesn’t have the ‘ass’ to carry the role.”
