A Nigerian woman has ignited discussions online after recounting an incident where her boss accused her of being disrespectful for suggesting to pay for two additional bus seats to ensure she wouldn’t miss a crucial exam.

The situation unfolded during a work trip that commenced on a Friday and was expected to conclude by Monday, with her exam slated for Tuesday morning. Aware of the tight schedule, she had already informed her boss about the exam and requested that they return by Monday evening after their work was completed.

She explained, “We completed our tasks by Monday afternoon, so I proposed to my boss that we could head back that same day. However, he mentioned that he was exhausted and recommended we depart early the following morning.”

In her words, she said:

“We finished the job on Monday afternoon and I told my boss we could leave that same day, but he said he was tired and suggested we should leave very early the next morning.”

The lady explained that the next morning, her boss delayed their departure. By the time they eventually got to the park, it was already around 9:30 a.m.

However, the Sienna bus they were supposed to board still needed two more passengers before it could move.

Because of my exam, I offered to pay for the remaining two seats so we could leave immediately,” she added.

She said her boss became angry, accusing her of disrespect and “see finish,” insisting that a woman should not pay for seats when a man is present.

Despite the tension, she still paid for the seats so she would not miss her exam.

The story has since triggered mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians debating whether the lady did the right thing.
