Apple TV’s latest drama series, Imperfect Women, takes viewers on a gripping journey through a murder investigation that shakes the lives of three lifelong friends. As secrets emerge and betrayals come to light, their long-standing friendship is put to the ultimate test. Adapted from Araminta Hall’s psychological thriller, the show explores deep themes such as female friendship, motherhood, sexual desire, and guilt, while highlighting the societal pressures women face to maintain a flawless exterior amidst these challenges.
For those eager to dive into this unfolding drama, the initial four episodes are currently available for streaming on Apple TV. If you’re already up to date, mark your calendar for the release of Episode 5, titled “Louise,” which premieres on Wednesday, April 8, at 12 am PT/3 am ET.
In anticipation of the next episode, Decider has an exclusive preview clip featuring a poignant conversation between Eleanor, played by Kerry Washington, and Nancy, portrayed by Kate Mara, as they discuss Nancy’s husband, Robert, played by Joel Kinnaman.
**Spoiler Alert: Details from episodes 1-4 of Imperfect Women are discussed below, now available on Apple TV+**
Amidst hidden secrets and poor communication, Nancy and Robert’s marriage is on shaky ground, exacerbated by their harmful coping methods. In the fourth episode, Nancy’s discovery of emails between Robert and a lawyer leads her to suspect that he might be planning to file for divorce.
In this exclusive clip from Episode 5, Eleanor, a longtime friend of Robert’s, reassures her anxiety-ridden best friend. “In reality, this man thinks that your armpits smell like honeysuckle and rainbows. He worships you. He is not leaving you.” Despite their hardships, Nancy has no desire to separate from Robert and still loves him deeply. She tells Eleanor that she commissioned a painting for him as an anniversary gift, a reference back to the naked portrait Robert destroyed in Episode 1.
Of course, ironically, as we know from Episodes 1-3 of the series, Eleanor ends up having an affair with Robert and acting on her longstanding crush after Nancy’s death. The conversation, particularly with that context, provides a glimpse into the complex friendship between the women. While their relationship was riddled with underlying, unspoken jealousy and comparison, they always placed each other’s needs above their own selfish desires and supported one another ruthlessly. To find out what happens next between Robert and Nancy, keep up with new episodes of Imperfect Women, released weekly on Wednesdays at 12 am PT/3 am ET on Apple TV.
