As hurt as Aniston was after her break-up with Pitt, she didn’t want to throw away her bond with the Fight Club star for good. The pair invested too much time with each other for Aniston to end up hating or forgetting about her ex despite their controversy.
“I still feel so lucky to have experienced it. I wouldn’t know what I know now if I hadn’t been married to Brad,” she once told Vanity Fair (via The News). “I love Brad; I really love him. I will love him for the rest of my life. He’s a fantastic man. I don’t regret any of it, and I’m not going to beat myself up about it. We spent seven very intense years together; we taught each other a lot—about healing and about fun.”
“We helped each other through a lot, and I really value that. It was a beautiful, complicated relationship,” Aniston added.
It seems she kept true to her word to an extent. The two have run into each other a few times fairly recently. Perhaps their most notable reunion was when they came together for a flirty scene in a table read for Fast Times. A source for Us Weekly claimed that their interaction on the video wasn’t an isolated incident. The two allegedly rebuilt their friendship over the years, so much so that they seemed a bit too close on occasion.
“Brad and Jen have a wonderful connection that might seem flirtatious at times,” the source said. “They dig each other’s sense of humor and have an infectious energy when they’re together, but they insist things are purely platonic and nothing more than that.”
The second phase of their friendship was well-earned according to the insider, since they needed years to reach this point.
“It took a while for Jen to heal and for Brad to stop feeling bad for how he left her back in 2005,” the source said. “This is something they’ve taken their time with, and they’re well aware of the hysteria around their relationship among their fans.”
“Their bond is solid,” the insider added. “They’ve come a really long way.”

Although their lines have reopened for communication, Pitt’s ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, remains a sore topic for both. An insider who claims to be close with Aniston asserted that she isn’t going to be avoiding Pitt. Unlike Jolie, Aniston is likely to engage with the Troy actor the next time their paths cross. However, Aniston will talk to Pitt about anything other than Jolie.
“The next time they see each other, they’ll be cordial with each other, they have been in the recent past and that won’t change,” the source claimed to Daily Mail. “They will talk about life and mostly anything else, but they aren’t going to dive into his feelings about the divorce or anything like that. Angelina is not a talking point between them and that will remain the same forever.”
The source further alleged that Pitt’s scandals haven’t affected their bond at all, and he and Aniston are still in good standing.
“Jen would love Brad to be happy first and foremost, and believes he is happy,” the source said.
