Former flight attendant Alanna Pow has shared some of her most shocking experiences as an air hostess, after three years of working in the industry.

The 23-year-old joined a cabin crew when she was just 19 and mostly worked on short-haul domestic flights until she quit in 2023.

But despite her short stint in the job, Alanna, who now lives in Bali, tells Daily Mail she had some of her most bizarre experiences while up in the air. 

‘What happens on flights is crazy. For one thing, passengers die on planes more than people think,’ she says.

‘On our way from Melbourne to Cairns, an old man was in the toilet for half an hour or so. We opened the door to check on him and his body fell out onto my colleague.’

Alanna goes on to say the cabin crew attempted to save the passenger’s life, but they were ‘too late’.

‘He was unresponsive and his poor wife was on the plane. We have a defibrillator onboard so we tried to resuscitate him, but it was too late,’ she says.

‘So, we just had to lay the passenger’s body down on the floor until we landed. What flight attendants go through and what we have to be trained in makes me sad.

‘I was only 21 at the time and it’s such a big responsibility.’

Alanna says there are also all sorts of romances and secret rendezvous happening between pilots, passengers and crew while on flights.

She herself admits to having flings with three pilots—and even once hooked up with a passenger who slipped her his business card in first class. 

‘It’s hard to date as a flight attendant because you’re always on the go, but it’s good for meeting people and having one-night stands,’ she says.

‘I slept with a guy who handed me his business card while I was serving him in first class. He picked me up later that day and we went on a date.’

She goes on to reveal there was often mingling between pilots and cabin crew during stopovers, especially during long-haul international flights.

‘When you have stopovers, all the cabin crew and pilots spend it together. It’s like a big holiday. There’s a lot of drinking, it gets really flirty and crazy,’ she says.

‘We had layovers in Fiji so we’d all hang out at the spa together.’

Alanna says some pilots ‘are so flirty that you get warned about them by other colleagues’, adding that ‘most of them are cheats’. 

‘I slept with three pilots and one had a girlfriend,’ she admits.

‘When he had a layover, he would come over to mine. Pilots are so flirty and they’re in charge of the plane so they can do whatever they want.

‘Sometimes they would see my name on the sheet and invite me into the cockpit for take-off and landing.’ 

Alanna says she earned $61,205 a year as a flight attendant, but ditched the job in 2023 to start modelling for adult content, which can earn her up to $81,607 a month.

‘I love flying and I love travelling as every flight attendant would say,’ she says, adding that she did find it boring during the times she was only flying domestic.

‘And the early mornings and long hours are hard. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to a normal job.’
