There have been multiple occasions where a star’s personal health struggles have been woven into their on-screen roles.
Jamie-Lynn Sigler revealed in 2016 that she had been living with multiple sclerosis (MS) since the age of 20. MS is a debilitating autoimmune disorder that attacks the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. A decade later, in January 2026, Sigler took on the role of a doctor facing the same illness on the popular show Grey’s Anatomy.
Sigler is not alone in bringing her real-life health battles to the screen. Other celebrities, like Michael J. Fox and Eric Dane, have also portrayed characters dealing with their own medical conditions.
