Reality TV News

The Chrisley family’s docuseries will premiere on Lifetime on September 1 and will share its season finale on September 16. The show will include five episodes in total.

The Chrisley family is returning to TV with a new reality series just a few months after Todd and Julie Chrisley left prison thanks to a presidential pardon. The family is clearly looking to cash in on their current fame, and so is the network hosting their upcoming series. The entirety of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality will air on Lifetime in September, and the schedule is kind of complicated. We have all of the details on what fans can expect and when they can expect it.

‘The Chrisleys: Back to Reality’ has a complex schedule

The Chrisley family will be back on TV sooner than you think. Lifetime has announced that The Chrisleys: Back to Reality will premiere on September 1, but the docuseries will be treated as a true TV event. The premiere will air as a two-night event with a two-hour episode airing Monday, September 1, 2025. A second, two-hour episode will be released on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Both episodes will air at 8pm.

On September 9, fans will be treated to back-to-back episodes, starting at 8 p.m. The series finale is scheduled for September 16 at 8 p.m. It is unclear if the show will return for a second season. For now it appears Lifetime is treating the project as a limited series. Only time will tell what they choose to do moving forward, but the Chrisleys are certainly willing reality TV subjects.

What is ‘The Chrisleys: Back to Reality’ about?

Lifetime was filming the Chrisley kids when news came down that President Donald Trump was planning to pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley. Initially, the docuseries planned to capture life without the family matriarch and patriarch, as well as the Chrisley kids’ fight to bring them home. Once they were released, the network pivoted quickly, filming their homecoming.

While the homecoming took over quickly, The Chrisleys: Back to Reality isn’t just about the family reuniting, and it’s certainly not all happy news. There are several serious themes explored in the documentary-style show. Savannah Chrisley, who managed the Chrisley household and the fight to get her parents released, admitted there are more than a few tense moments during filming. Chase Chrisley’s substance abuse troubles, Savannah Chrisley’s relationship drama, and sibling tension will all be featured in the upcoming event.

Todd is hoping for more reality TV

While The Chrisleys: Back to Reality has yet to premiere, Todd Chrisley is already thinking ahead to the future. The Lifeime series is likely to be limited to just one season, by the sounds of it. Todd Chrisley is planning what comes after, and he thinks another reality TV show is likely in the making. The property developer broke down his hopes during an interview with ABC.

He said he and his wife are planning to leave Tennessee and move back to South Carolina. Todd admitted he’s feeling a draw to his old stomping grounds and hopes to open a hotel in Charleston. He believes the family converting a mansion and running a business would make for good reality TV. Julie and Todd Chrisley are originally from South Carolina, although they are both from Westminster. Westminster is a town about 4 hours northwest of Charleston.

There is no network attached to the project, and the couple has not yet purchased a mansion, based on recent property records. They will surely update fans as they move forward with their plans. For now, fans can catch up with the controversial couple and their kids in the Lifetime docuseries. They also host their podcast, Chrisley Confessions 2.0, which offers unfiltered insights into their family life.
