AFL great Garry Lyon was spotted heading to the nuptials of Ruby Brownless and Josh Wallis in Queensland, despite his infamous fallout with the bride’s father.

The 25-year-old model and Instagram influencer, and the brother of former Western Bulldogs star Mitch Wallis prepared to tie the knot in Eumundi on Friday.

Garry, 60, was among a smattering of guests that were spotted leaving for the venue on Friday afternoon, while the bride and groom posed for pre-wedding snaps with guests – including a suited-up US country star Zac Bryan.

The former Melbourne captain did not go empty handed either.

The multi-media personality was seen carrying two crates of wine from his car.

Despite taking on a workmanlike role, Garry quite the dapper figure in a crisp white dinner shirt.

He also wore a pair of black tuxedo pants and finished his wedding look with a classic black bow tie.

He chose to leave his suit jacket in the car as he carried the wine, not wanting to work up a sweat under a sunny Queensland sky.

Garry finished his ensemble with a pair of tortoise shell-framed sunglasses  

After discharging his duties, Garry, suit jacket now in hand, was spotted chatting to other guests.

Garry and his wedding party were heading to the secluded wedding venue, nestled in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The tranquil property is set on 34 acres of forest, while the sun and surf of Noosa is just 20 minutes away. 

Ruby and Josh kicked off their ‘wedding week’ in spectacular style on Friday, as they welcomed a bevy of celebrity guests for their lavish nuptials. 

‘It’s wedding week,’ Ruby beamed, as she posed on a wharf with her Western Bulldogs beau for a few pre-wedding snaps in a breathtaking backless dress.

American singer Zac Bryan, 28, suited up for the occasion, as the plus one of Ruby’s close friend — and his new girlfriend — Hannah Duncan, 27.

‘Gonna delete 30 beers,’ the Something in the Orange crooner captioned a selfie from Friday evening. 

‘I love you,’ Lucy captioned a golden hour selfie taken with the bride to be.  

Their mother Nicky Brownless, 58, looked positively radiant in golden hour light as she posed for a photo solo. 

Nicky and her ex-husband’s former close friend AFL star Garry Lyon are engaged to be married. 

Garry controversially went public with Nicky, who is the ex-wife of his former AFL Footy Show co-host Billy, in 2016.

Garry blindsided his best mate by starting a relationship with his wife of 18 years, just 12 months after they separated. 

The bombshell falling-out between the former best mates stunned the footy world after Lyon split from his wife Melissa, ran off with Nicky and later moved in with her and Billy’s four children, Lucy, Ruby, Oscar and Max.

The Brownlesses’ 18-year marriage didn’t survive the stunning turn of events and the Cats legend has given several raw accounts of how badly Lyon’s actions hurt him, at one stage confessing he had ‘a bit of hatred’ for the Melbourne Demons icon.

A month after the shattering news broke, he bluntly said ‘a good mate wouldn’t do that’ before sensationally confessing he believed Garry and Nicky’s secret relationship could have been going on for years.

The former mates appeared to bury the hatchet in 2020 when Billy joined Nicky, their children and Lyon to celebrate Christmas.

That followed Brownless admitting the pair were in a ‘good spot’ earlier in the year.

Photographs shared on Christmas Day showed the blended family spending the day together.

Brownless posed alongside Nicky and their kids, and Lyon was also featured in some of the snaps.

Paparazzi shots from the family’s most recent get-together show Brownless and Nicky looking relaxed and happy in each other’s company as they gathered to watch Ruby and Wallis go through what looked like a preview of the ceremony in front of their loved ones.

Meanwhile, Ruby and Josh were engaged over Christmas in 2023 during a holiday on Queensland’s scenic Hayman Island and have been dating since 2019.
