Adrien Brody won his second Oscar at the 97th Academy Awards when he took home the statue for his role in The Brutalist. And while he had a memorable speech as he accepted the hardware, what happened between Brody and another Oscar winner before the ceremony even began had everyone talking.

The actor and his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, made headlines as they stood on the carpet for an interview and were ambushed by Halle Berry. The Gothika star interrupted the interview in dramatic fashion as she and Brody embraced and recreated their Oscars kiss from 22 years ago when Brody unexpectedly pounced on Berry as he got to the stage.

After it was reported that Berry only planted one on Brody because she got permission from Chapman that it was OK to lock lips with her boyfriend, fans wanted to know more about his partner. Here’s more on Chapman including who she was married to for several years before she met Brody.

Who is Chapman’s disgraced ex-husband?

Back in 2007, Chapman was married to none other than disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

She left the producer and ended their relationship in the wake of allegations of sexual abuse against him. However, even though their marriage had essentially been over for years, their divorce wasn’t finalized until 2021.

Chapman has two children with her ex-husband–a daughter, India, who was born in 2010, and a son, Dashiell, who arrived in 2013.

“I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life,” Chapman told Vogue in 2018. “There was a part of me that was terribly naive. I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief! And I have moments when I just cry for my children.”

More than 80 women have accused Weinstein of sexual assault or harassment. He has repeatedly denied the claims and his attorneys are appealing his convictions. The disgraced producer is currently serving his prison sentence at Rikers Island in New York.

When Chapman and Brody began dating

Chapman is actually pretty well-known in her right for fans of Project Runway as she was a regular judge on Project Runway: All Stars for seven seasons. She’s also a fashion designer, who founded the brand Marchesa in 2004 alongsode her friend Keren Craig.

Brody and Chapman are believed to have first met while attending a dinner in Puerto Rico for the launch of model Helena Christensen’s swimwear line in 2019. Sources close to the pair confirmed their relationship in February 2020 and the duo made their red carpet debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021 for the premiere of Brody’s action crime thriller Clean.

The actor has thanked Chapman after winning every trophy this awards season. When he won at the Golden Globes he shouted her out in an emotional acceptance speech saying: “To my beautiful and amazing partner Georgina, your generosity of spirit, your own resilience, your immense creativity are a daily reminder of how to be. I would not be standing here before you if it wasn’t for you. There was a time not too long ago that I felt that this may never be a moment afforded to me again, so thank you.”
