Apple TV+‘s hit workplace thriller Severance is back for Season 2, and though it still feels like the same superb, mind-blowing series we know and love, things have drastically changed in both the innie and outie worlds this time around.

Since the Season 1 finale, for instance, there’s been a serious staffing shakeup at Lumon. The Season 2 premiere said hello (and goodbye) to new MDR employees played by Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, and Stefano Carannante. It saw Milchick (Tramell Tillman) take over for Ms. Cobel (Patricia Arquette) as manager of the Severed Floor. And it introduced us to new suspiciously young deputy manager Miss Huang (Sarah Bock).

Other fresh faces expected to appear in Season 2 include characters played by Merrit Wever, Robby Benson, and John Noble. But ever since the official Season 2 trailer dropped, one burning question has been on fans minds: “Who is Mr. Drummond?”

While we didn’t meet the new Season 2 character in the premiere, we’re sure to meet him soon. Until then, we have some intel on Drummond from Severance creator Dan Erickson. So who is Mr. Drummond on Severance? And what do we know about Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, the character who plays him? Read on for more.

Who Is Mr. Drummond On Severance?

As noted above, Severance fans first laid eyes on Mr. Drummond in the official Season 2 trailer, which kicked off with a voiceover Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, new series regular, saying, “Their work will be remembered as one of the greatest moments of this planet.” Interesting…

Later in the trailer, we get a glimpse of the new Season 2 star looking like a high-level figure associated with Lumon. Initially, it seemed as though he could be a member of the mysterious Board. But Erickson told Decider that he’s actually a security chief.

“We sort of needed somebody who was intimidating enough to to fill the void left by Mr. Granor in the first season. And Darri, is this just wonderful, warm, kind, sweet man, who can play so terrifying when he wants to,” Erickson said of the “incredible” actor. “So we were really lucky.”

Who Plays Mr. Drummond On Severance? Meet Ólafur Darri Ólafsson

OK, so you know that Ólafur Darri Ólafsson plays Mr. Drummond on Severance but did you know that he was also a fan of Season 1 and is a longtime fan of director/EP Ben Stiller, who he worked with on The Secret Life of Walter Mitty?

Per Severance‘s production notes, the 51-year-old Icelandic actor was quoted saying, “Ben is so into what he does. You can see that in the detailing and depth of Severance. In a world where we move so fast and everything is happening all the time, it makes me happy that there are people like Ben who will not stop until their piece of art is ready. He is the captain of our ship. This experience has been incredibly joyful.”

In addition to Severance Ólafsson has a whopping 100 credits on IMDb and is known for his work in major television series and films including Somebody Somewhere, The Tourist, Beautiful Beings, The Minister, Trapped, Cursed, The Widow, True Detective, Eurovision, Murder Mystery, and more.

While we wait to see Mr. Drummond’s journey on Severance Season 2, you can keep up-to-date with Ólafsson by following him on Instagram at @olafurdarriolafsson.
