Giuliana Rancic has no intention of gatekeeping the red carpet.
The former Fashion Police star, who devoted two decades to covering award shows, premieres, and other celebrity events for E! before stepping down in 2021, embraces the rise of influencers as red carpet correspondents.
“Whether you have a journalism degree, started in small markets and climbed the ladder, or launched a career through a YouTube channel or Instagram page, it doesn’t matter,” Giuliana shared exclusively with E! News during a joint interview with her husband, Bill Rancic. “What truly matters is the personality of the individual.”
She added, “It’s all about the personality and the ability to connect with people—both those you interview and the audience tuning in.”
Nonetheless, the former E! News host acknowledges why some might resist this evolving trend. She pointed out that effective red carpet coverage also demands thorough preparation and research.
“I was always very prepared,” she said. “I was doing a news every day—I was naturally in it all the time—so I knew every movie, every TV show, every celebrity because I was interviewing them through the year.”
